How To Treat Acne - September 22nd, 2009

Even if you are no longer in your teens, you can have outbreaks on your face. You can look in the mirror and find those dreaded “zits”, redness, and flare ups that no amount of make-up can cover up.

When this happens, you can do a mental check list and ask yourself if you are being diligent about washing all make up off at the end of the day, using gentle cleansers, avoiding washing your face too much, drinking lots of water, etc.

Once you have determined what might have caused the problem, you can begin to resolve to correct it. In the meantime though, you have pimples, “zits” and black heads to get rid of and bring you back to a clear complexion, and back to balance.

There is one ingredient used in many skin care products and that is salicylic acid, which is a beta hydroxy acid. It causes skin cells to shed more readily and unclogs pores, preventing them from clogging further.

You can find salicylic acid in many over-the-counter acne products. It can also be found in some make up, such as Neutrogena Skin Clearing make up. The amount per product can vary from 0.5% to 1%, and percentages can be found listed in the ingredients.
